  63. Search and Replace Options

  65. B  Search and replace backwards,  i.e.  search and
  66.    replace   from  the  current  cursor   position
  67.    towards the beginning of the text.
  68. G  Global  search  and replace,  i.e.  search  and
  69.    replace in the entire text, irrespective of the
  70.    current cursor position.
  71. n  n = any number.  Find and replace n occurrences
  72.    of the search string,  counted from the current
  73.    cursor position.
  74. N  Replace without asking,  i.e.  do not stop  and
  75.    ask  Replace  (Y/N) for each occurrence of  the
  76.    search string.
  77. U  Ignore upper/lower case,  i.e. regard upper and
  78.    lower case alphabeticals as equal.
  79. W  Search and replace whole words only,  i.e. skip
  80.    matching  patterns which are embedded in  other
  81.    words.

  85. Examples

  87. N10  Find  the next ten occurrences of the  search
  88.      string and replace without asking.
  89. GWU  Find  and  replace whole words in the  entire
  90.      text. Ignore upper/lower case.
  91. W    Search for whole words only,  i.e. the search
  92.      string  'term'  will  only  match  the   word
  93.      'term', not the word 'terminal'.
  94. BU   Search backwards and ignore upper/lower case,
  95.      i.e.  'Block' will match both 'blockhead' and
  96.      'BLOCKADE', etc.

  98. Terminate the list of options with <─┘,  and  the
  99. search and replace starts. If the search string is
  100. found,  the cursor is positioned at the end of it,
  101. and  you must response to  the  question:  Replace
  102. (Y/N)?.  You may abort the search and replace ope-
  103. ration at this point with the Abort command (Ctrl-
  104. U).  The  search and replace operation may be  re-
  105. peated by the Repeat last find command (Ctrl-L).

  107. A  global  search and replace  with  the  N-option
  108. specified  (Replace without asking) normally shows
  109. each replacement on the screen.  This is suspended
  110. if you press any key, resulting in a faster opera-
  111. tion.
